Plage du Débarquement
Between memory and natural beauty
A large beach ideal for holidays with children and well known in our destination, Débarquement Beach is fully equipped, supervised from June to September (opening hours vary depending on the season) and accessible by free shuttle bus from mid-June to mid-September.
Renowned for its vast expanse of fine sand and calm, shallow waters, the Débarquement Beach has retained its authentic charm while also serving as an ideal starting point for exploring the coast and joining the coastal path to Gigaro. It offers a rare balance between historical memory and Mediterranean beauty (surrounded by umbrella pines and bordered by turquoise waters).
You can easily spend the whole day here: morning coffee with your feet in the water when the beach is all yours, sunbathing and shopping in the morning, lunch at one of the beach restaurants, water sports in the afternoon, ice cream at 4 p.m… Pure bliss!
A little more history: this beach takes its name from one of the most significant events in history: the Provence Landings on 15 August 1944. It was here, on the coast of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, that Allied troops (mainly American and French) landed to liberate the south of France a few weeks after the Normandy Landings. Commemorative steles and explanatory panels now mark this founding episode of regained freedom.
A true symbol of the true nature of La Croix Valmer: the meeting point between people, nature and collective memory.
