La Croix-Valmer, 1 destination, 3 atmospheres

Welcome to La Croix-Valmer, where true nature awaits you at three different destinations: the village, Débarquement Beach, and Gigaro.

This is where nature reveals itself.

There are places where, at first glance, you know you’ve found the destination.

Nestled between the sea and the forest, La Croix-Valmer is one such place. Here, there is no flashy ostentation—only rare authenticity, unspoiled nature, and that gentle way of life that makes you feel at home the moment you arrive. Welcome to a village where true nature reveals itself to you, generous and timeless.

The heart of the village: the soul of Provence

…what strikes you most is the atmosphere: a blend of conviviality and tranquility, […] and where every place tells a story.

In the heart of La Croix-Valmer, the narrow streets invite you to stroll at your leisure. Local shops abound with regional products—delectable pastries, aged cheeses, local wines—making them perfect for an impromptu picnic or a souvenir to take home. Yet, what truly stands out is the atmosphere: a blend of friendliness and tranquility, where locals greet you like a neighbor and every spot tells a story. Stroll up Rue Louis Martin to find all the shops you need for your daily essentials.

For families, Pichoun Parc is a must: balancing games, slides and climbing structures for hours of laughter. And for sports enthusiasts, the village offers everything you need: tennis courts, municipal swimming pool, fitness trail in the countryside, city stadium, skate park and even a bowling alley for the wildest games of pétanque.

Finally, the Tourist Office, located right in the center, is a wealth of information for exploring the region from every angle and ensuring you don’t miss a single activity.

An ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding area, take your bike and join the Gulf of Saint-Tropez cycle path, which will guide you through breathtaking scenery. Alternatively, opt for the walking trails that wind through unspoiled landscapes—such as La Petite Suisse—which we will follow to continue our walk toward La Croix-Valmer’s most iconic beach.

The Landing Beach: between history and the Mediterranean

Just minutes from the village, the Plage du Débarquement transports you to another world. Here, history and the sea blend to create a unique atmosphere.

On August 15, 1944, Allied troops—primarily American and French—landed to liberate southern France, just weeks after the Normandy landings. Today, commemorative markers recall this pivotal moment, offering visitors a moving journey in the footsteps of those who fought for freedom.

But the history of this beach goes back even further. Did you know that it is also home to the ruins of an exceptional Gallo-Roman villa? In 44 BC, following a civil war that tore the Roman Empire apart, Augustus’s Eighth Legion was stationed in the region, with Fréjus serving as the local capital. Demobilized soldiers were granted land by lot, giving rise to the Pardigon II estate—a seaside villa spanning 3,600 m², the largest in the south, which was occupied from the 1st century BC until the 7th century AD. Even after centuries of abandonment and subsequent preservation work, its ruins remain a unique testament to that distant era.

Today, the Landing Beach has become an ideal setting for relaxing. With its fine sand and crystal clear waters, it is perfect for families, water sports enthusiasts (towed buoys, kayak, paddle, catamaran, etc.) or simply those who want to recharge their batteries facing the sea. The emblematic pontoon allows you to embark for the Golden Islands (Port-Cros, Porquerolles), where wild landscapes and heavenly coves await you.

In summer, the beach comes alive with musical evenings and fireworks lighting up the sky. And with its many dining options, you can enjoy a meal with your toes in the sand and spend the day facing the Mediterranean.

How about following the coast to reach our third destination? Simply take the coastal path towards Cap Lardier—a place where time slows down and the cicadas sing the loudest.

Gigaro: a wild and elegant setting

Here, elegance is understated…

At the other end of La Croix-Valmer, Gigaro awaits you—preserved and timeless. Here, elegance is understated: it lies in the silence of secluded beaches, the scent of the trees, and the pleasure of savoring the present moment.

Port-Cros National Park commence begins at Gigaro, with coastal paths leading to Cap Lardier. Lined with protected plants and umbrella pines, these trails offer breathtaking views of turquoise waters and secluded coves. A boat trip along the coast reveals the full beauty of this landscape, where the rocks seem to plunge into the sea.

If you are lucky enough to encounter the guides from Port-Cros National Park , let yourself be captivated by their fascinating stories. Their work in prevention, education, and land conservation is vital to preserving the beauty and biodiversity of this unique place. With them, every walk becomes an educational adventure, revealing the secrets of the wildlife, flora, and landscapes that make our region such a precious gem.
