Big Band 13 presents an intense and unifying concert, where the big band tradition meets the joy of performance and the emotion of a vibrant, warm and deeply engaging jazz experience.
Big Band 13 brilliantly revives the spirit of the great jazz orchestras, following in the footsteps of the legendary Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Remaining true to this tradition whilst looking resolutely to the present, BB13 enriches its repertoire with nods to more modern composers such as Oliver Nelson, as well as to leading figures of French chanson such as Henri Salvador and Nino Ferrer.
This project forms part of the vibrant history of transatlantic jazz, fuelled by the constant back-and-forth movement of musicians between Europe and America. A true musical epic built on sharing, encounters and exchanges, which constitutes the very soul and inspiration of Big Band 13.
Under the musical direction of Michel Delakian, carried by the elegant voice of Claire Marlange and the energy of 19 musicians, the Big Band delivers an irresistible swing and a rich, powerful sound. The audience is swept away by great standards such as ’S Wonderful, Moanin’, ‘Cute’, ‘Blues March’, ‘All of Me’, ‘Summertime’, ‘Caravan’ and ‘I’m Beginning to See the Light’.
